than watched president obama -- then senator obama and senator mccain. tonight, of course, biden will be facing off against ryan. we'll see if there's as much interest on the part of the public but certainly on the part of the campaign there is intense interest. biden has to reverse the slide of support that has occurred since president obama's lackluster performance when he faced off against mitt romney in the first debate. and ryan will be trying to make sure he doesn't go off message that he maintains a very strict discipline with respect to mitt romney's positions. ryan of course has put forth some budgetary proposals that romney has said listen, i'm the guy in charge, i'm going to be the one who will make sure that the policies that are in place will be my policies. so ryan is going to have to make sure he is in sync with romney. but all in all, you know, romney has the momentum now and we'll see how it turns out tonight. >> you talked about the strategy. we are watching the presidential debate and there weren't too many sparks flying in that debate. do you think that's goi

, when you look back at 2008, the debate between senator mccain and then senator obama, senator obama was cutting and slashing in his presentation there, he said some very strong, if not offensive things, to senator mccain. but he also said it with his back to senator mccain. and that was interesting tactic. a direct on offensive, talking to the people asking him the question and saying the god awful things he believed to be true about senator mccain's policies. >> because of that debate, there were critics that said that senator mccain never glanced at senator obama. >> and referred to him as that one, and there was mainstream pressure on that one. we're use today oprah and phil donahue and on the fox news channel and it's the sine quanon, and so policy is important. >> in the future, it's important. but do i have the ability to be friends with the person that's asking the question even though i don't agree with them. >> and you're going to be at the debate. what are you looking for. >> i'm going to be look for the ability to connect with the audience and senator now president obama

president obama beat senator mccain. we saw mitt romney there just the other day with chris christie, the governor from new jersey. down here in virginia, also, 13 electoral votes, highly important for both men this year. southeastern virginia, four years ago, the president did very well, especially up here in places like, newport news city, 64-36% over john mccain. governor romney felt it was important to be there also over the past several days to make sure that he can, maybe dig into some of the voters that the president had four years ago. down in florida, such a huge pot of gold in this election yet again with 29 electoral votes. the other day we saw governor romney in pinellas county, that is the western side of tampa, north of st. pete here, a 54-46 winner four years ago. mitt romney was campaigning there in two other counties in florida where president obama did very well four years ago. trying to pick into some of that vote and pick off some of those voters that is coming up in 26 days. later tonight this is what you need to keep an eye on. 8:55 p.m. eastern time in prime ti
